Max Philipp Klüpfel has been admitted to the bar since 2018 and is authorized to represent clients before German and European courts, the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA), the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Max Philipp Klüpfel specializes in advising and litigating in intellectual property and competition law. His practice focuses in particular on trademark, design, and competition law, as well as IP contract law. His practice also includes representing and advising national and international clients on the development of trademark and design protection strategies, as well as representing trademark and design owners in particular in registration, opposition, and cancellation proceedings at the German and European level, as well as in judicial and extrajudicial disputes. In addition, he supports and advises his clients in contract negotiations in the field of intellectual property law (e.g., license agreements, R&D agreements, development agreements, cooperation agreements, etc.).
Max Philipp Klüpfel studied law at the University of Passau, where he already focused on intellectual property law.
He completed his legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf, with placements at a renowned media law firm in Cologne and at the King's County Supreme Court in Brooklyn, New York, among others. In 2018, he began his career as a lawyer at a large international law firm in Munich, where he continued to focus on intellectual property law. Most recently, he worked at a law firm in Munich specializing in intellectual property law, focusing on trademark, competition, and domain law. He is expected to complete his training as a specialist lawyer for intellectual property law in 2026.
He has been a salary partner at SKM-IP since January 1, 2026.
