Our European Patent Attorneys are registered with the European Patent Office and are members of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the EPO (epi).

The following professional regulations apply:
The relevant professional regulations for the lawyers of SKM-IP are the Federal Lawyers' Act (BRAO), the Professional Code of Conduct for Lawyers (BORA), the Lawyers' Remuneration Act (RVG), the Specialist Lawyers' Act (FAO), the Professional Rules of the Lawyers of the European Community, and the Act on the Activities of European Lawyers (EuRAG). All texts are available on www.brak.de under the heading "Professional Law".

SKM-IP's patent attorneys are subject to the Patent Attorneys Act (PAO), the Professional Code of Conduct for Patent Attorneys and the Code of Professional Conduct of the Federation Internationale des Conseils en Propriete Industrielle (FICPI). European Patent Attorneys are subject to the Code of Professional Conduct of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the EPO (epi). All regulations can be found on the website of the Chamber of Patent Attorneys, the FICPI and the epi.

Liability insurance
SKM-IP maintains professional indemnity insurance with HDI-Versicherung (HDI Versicherung AG, HDI-Platz 1, 30659 Hannover) for the lawyers and patent attorneys working for it. The territorial scope of the insurance cover includes activities in the member states of the European Union and meets at least the requirements of §§ 51, 51a of the Federal Lawyers' Act (BRAO) and §§ 45, 45a of the Patent Attorneys Act (PAO).
